Grading Guidelines

CastingWords Grades

CastingWords is now assigning our own grades to each assignment. The default is to accept the average of the graders given grades, with a comment of "Agree with graders." We may leave the same comment, yet alter the score if we feel the graders do not use the following scale for grades.

7 is the standard level of work we expect, grades above and below will affect often your qual score.

Here is a list of all levels of transcription Grades!

Transcripts
"How much work will an editor need to do?" Examples!

10 - Perfection. Could not be helped by editing.
9 - Editing might improve. This means it does not NEED editing, but the right editor might help
8 - Needs editing - but not too much
7 - Needs editing. (Standard level of work.)
6- Needs substantial editing. Usually means transcript has many pieces of both [xx] fixing and research that needs to be done.
5- This transcript can be saved.
1-4 - This transcript is severely broken. Perhaps it could be saved, but better just to get it redone.
0 - This transcript was a cheater or the like. OR this transcript has unmarked missing sections that were worked over for flow (so you aren't supposed to notice they are missing). This last criteria is the reason there are not many grades from 1-4.

Edits
"Is this an accurate, readable transcript?"
10 - Perfection.
9 - A skilled editor might improve it. This was a very good edit - but there are things that could be fiddled with.
8 - Good Edit. More skill is shown than just a 7. May also be awarded for a "7" that was really hard to pull off (took lots of work).
7 - Fine work. Deliverable. Has both the voice of the participants and readability. (Standard level of work.)
6 - Not Deliverable. But close. For instance it's perfect - except the inconsistency of  using both Man 1 and Female Speaker Two (which is should always be Woman 2) as names.
5 - Not Deliverable. But should be sent out to the next editor.
1-4 - Improved on transcript, but not enough that we need to save the work
0 - Cheating.
